Summary
I wrote ocean while sitting in traffic in downtown Seattle.
The astute reader will notice the few mermaid parts have a nice limerick format.
Now that's high class poetry.
Picturesque sky, barely cloudy day
Lone seagull flies atop the cityscape
Gull wings lifted by the sea-born breeze
Ramshackle shantytown haunts the seaboard
Listing trawlers retire to port
The salty angler still hauls his catch
And now, the ocean is at rest
Asleep, so sirens come to play
In their beautiful way
And lure the angler astray
The ocean stirs today
Well, hello my little Odysseus,
Have you come to play today?
I'll sing you a song
Wrap you in my arms
While writhing in the ocean waves
All tangled up with the water sprite
The phospherous glints on her shoulders and legs
He whispers his wish
Tries for a kiss
She doesn't push him away
His hands try to find her mythical legs
They're entwined in the twilight waves
She says come for a swim
To where the old sailors have been
You're not the first one today
Gray twilight sky over ocean waves
In waning sunlight the water dreams away
Salty angler is lost at sea
Was the myth real, or was it a dream?
The angler seeks warmth by a kerosene lamp
And a Siren, appears naked on the vessel deck
She says 'Come with me to rest'
So, do you think my little Odysseus
That Poseidon is angry today?
I've got a demon in my lips
You're hungry to kiss
And you won't be sailing today
Unrightly held by the witches at sea
Under their spells and soothsay
The angler seeks freedom.
And the Siren, wonders why she must delay
