Poison (part 11)

Author: Stephen W. Cote

Into peaceful, blissfull remorse

Will come the quiet emergence

A sudden, emaciated and emancipated light

Floods the eyes with the residue of the poison's vagrance

The poison slowly sinks back under the stone

And where the decay had made the flesh fall away

Only the bright green of a life regrown

Showers the altar in blessed light where you had only just prayed
