Cream of the Moon

Author: Stephen W. Cote

Late at night, and in reflection

I feel the stars align

And moonlight spills

Through the evening's purple sky

Between billowing clouds

Washing my skin with Spring.

For all reason, I should be maddened

But my spirit is abated

By a nurtured devotion to prayer

In these truculent ramblings

My heart is calmed

By an unseen force of greater understanding

I must leave behind

Such great unrest and heartache

That has lead me to squander time

In this moment of peace

And a glory of hope's reflection

It has been a while since I've felt so refreshed

Somewhere in this wet evening

Is the creamy moonlight

I now feel shining down on me

Guiding me through a darkness

That has long plagued my travels

I am in confidence with this light
