Sometimes In Love (part 1)

Author: Stephen W. Cote

My shelf sequesters memorable scribbles

My first ledger neatly printed with random precision

The lyrics were obsequious, but the essence true

A poetic betrayal of my spirit

Now, I languish behind tawdry hallucinations

Of a life assembled in fairytale land

Reorganizing my life day to day

Counting through the flickers in the eternal flames

Puritanical dream fairies passed by without a glance

Hearts and heads reconciled to another recourse

Permitting me to pass in the shadows of the swell

The misty quench of saline dreams consumed in agony

Alas, the ash affords no consumption

A new chapter, temperamental verse

Estranged from my pen so I might remember

The feeling we all share when we're sometimes in love
